In addition to beaming the national plenary speakers live to Whidbey Island, the 2011 Whidbey Island Beaming Bioneers Conference is pleased and honored to feature local keynote speaker Chris Jordan on Friday evening, October 14th.
Grief, Hopelessness, Despair, and Joy: Walking the Tightrope of our Lives

Chris Jordan is an artist who has been calling people to understand the impact of our current lifestyles through internationally acclaimed work including his new documentary on Midway (http://www.midwayfilm.com/), which captures the devastating impact of plastics on albatrosses migrating and living more than 2,000 miles away from the nearest continent. In this talk, he calls us to have “the courage to face the realities of our time and allow ourselves to feel deeply enough that it transforms us, and our future.”
In addition, Chris will be offering a separate workshop focusing on the issues highlighted in his talk. There will also be a varied offering of hands-on workshops of interest and relevance to the Pacific Northwest bio-region, delicious meals, and plenty of time for personal reflection and community engagement.
We look forward to your participation in this year’s “revolution from the heart of nature!”
